ECHO Analyzer

version 2025/08/08

#0000 Divesoft ECHO Analyzer

Intended Use

ECHO is designed for analysis of oxygen (O₂), helium (He), and carbon monoxide (CO) in diving breathing gases composed exclusively of air, pure oxygen, and pure helium.

The analyzer is not a certified measuring instrument. Measured values are informative only and must not be used as sole confirmation of gas composition.

Analyzer control

ECHO has a single multifunction button. Switching on/off and control is done by long or short press of this button.

SWITCH ON
Long press of the button (3s)

ENTER MENU
Long press of the button

MENU SCROLLING
Short button press

MENU CONFIRM
Long press of the button

LEAVE MENU
Short press to scroll to Quit and confirm with a long press

SWITCH OFF
Enter menu (long press) Select Switch off (long press)

Gas Analysis

  • Analyzer switches automatically to O₂ and He measurement mode after power-on.

  • Place the built-in flow limiter on the cylinder valve (air, nitrox).

  • For helium mixtures, use an external flow limiter.

  • Slowly open the valve.

  • Wait 5–10 seconds and always wait for values to stabilize before reading results.

Values are shown on:

  • ECHO display

  • Mobile device (if connected via Divesoft.App)

ECHO Likes to Breathe

  • Measurements are only valid with gas actively flowing.
  • Calibrate once before your first measurement of the day — not between measurements.
  • If the device has been sitting idle with a different gas inside, flush it before use.

A bit more detail

  • ECHO has a long gas path combining up to four sensors.
  • With active flow it flushes completely within 5 seconds — but without it, stale gas can slowly linger and produce a seemingly drifting reading.

Flushing with air

  • If the device has been sitting with a different gas inside, give it a few good breaths: 2–5 passes of air with ~20-second pauses in between.
  • In normal use, you don't need to think about this — a stable reading is reached within seconds of gas flow starting.
  • This means waving ECHO around will not fill it with air – you need to properly induce airflow, placing ECHO on a cylinder valve or using a professional flow limiter.

Calibration tips

  • Prefer using a compressed gas source – e.g. a cylinder with air or oxygen.
  • When using ambient air, draw from the gas inlet — fresh air will enter through the exhaust port near the oxygen sensor.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detection

  • Warning threshold: 5 ppm CO.
  • CO concentration is displayed in ppm.
    • On ECHO screen only when above warning limit.
    • In the Divesoft.App, indicated by a color bar, tap on the bar to show ppm.
      • Green <1 ppm
      • Yellow 1<<5 ppm
      • Red >5 ppm

  • Extended data display
  • Gas calculations and gas mixing
  • MOD calculation
  • Sensor calibration (including 3-point O₂ calibration)
  • Firmware updates
  • Printing gas labels (PDF)

Pairing with Mobile App

  • Flashing Bluetooth icon: not paired
  • Solid Bluetooth icon: connected

If pairing fails:

  • Menu → Setup → Bluetooth → Erase pair
  • Repeat pairing in the app

Calibration (O₂)

  • One-point and two-point calibration: on device or in app

  • Three-point calibration: app only (recommended for hypoxic gases)

  • Calibrate regularly (recommended at least monthly, ideally before use)

Helium sensor:

  • Factory calibrated
  • No calibration required
  • No menu option available

Battery

  • Rechargeable lithium battery

  • Charging via USB-C, 5 V / 1 A

  • Typical charging time: ~2.5 h

  • Battery icon shown on display

  • Best battery health: keep between 20–80%

Storage (Long-Term)

  • Store in clean, dry environment (10–30 °C)

  • Battery charge: ~40–60%

  • Avoid solvent vapors and contaminated air

  • Allow device to reach room temperature before use

Maintenance

  • O₂ galvanic sensor: replace after approx. 12–24 months

  • CO sensor: manufacturer lifetime 2 years from unpacking

  • Solid-state O₂ (DVO₂) and He sensors: 10+ years / unlimited lifetime

Printing Gas Labels

  • Available only in Divesoft.App

  • Press Print → PDF saved on phone

  • PDF can be sent to a label printer for cylinder marking, see the Divesoft.Blog
